Eid Special

4:26 pm

The month of Ramadan is one of my favourite months of the entire year, and it's not because of all the mouth-watering, eye-tearing, oil-dripping food that is at our disposal (okay, maybe it does make a tad bit of difference). But it's the month I feel the most connected to myself, to my family and of course my faith. The crucial thirty day fast finally comes to an end  as we bring in Eid-ul-Fitr - the celebration of Fasting by Feasting!
While food is an integral part of the festive month, our affair with clothes becomes increasingly special and elaborate. It is of utmost importance to have the perfect outfit for Eid because this is one of the few times that we are obliged to wear traditional clothes, so might as well make the most of it. After all, festivals are a celebration of food, togetherness, love, annnnnd dressing up! Yes I said it, celebration of dressing up.

For this Eid Special post, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the brand Khadijeh by Afza Ali and once again with my favourite bag brand, Wink Accessories. When I came across Khadijeh's instagram page, I instantly fell in love with her designs- simplistic, elegant and beautiful. And with Eid around, it was the perfect opportunity to work with the brand whose designs I completely adored.
To find the perfect setting for this shoot, we headed to the ever packed Mohammed Ali Road! As a first timer to the famously-known eat-street during Ramadan, I was excited to see what the hype was all about. And now I know! SO MUCH FOOD EVERYWHERE! Oh, and people too!

Festivals are all about colour and keeping that in mind we decided on these two looks. The look that I'm sporting is a beautiful raw silk kurta which has this understated radiance and the second I saw it I couldn't take my eyes or hands off it. And what really lifts this entire outfit to another level is that heavily embroidered dupatta. And although it was a slight task handling it, it really got the whole look together and made such a simple piece look so elegant. Khudaija's look is rather simple, yet bold with contrasting colours of blue and pink. Again the brand aces in simple designing by giving detailing to the palazzo pants using thread work while keeping the kurta basic. But the looks wouldn't have been complete without the gorgeous Wink bags which are a perfect mix of traditional and modern. Light accessorizing, bold eyes to complete the look and voila, we're all set for Eid!

Hope that this auspicious day brings everyone lots of joy, peace, love and not to forget deeeeelicious food!

Eid Mubarak :)
