When down south, you can't miss these stores! Listing down my top 10 favourites from Melbourne covering clothes, shoes, home decor and baby clothes too.

1. Bardot & Bardot Junior

Sitting on the top of the list, these two are my favourite stores in Melbourne which never fail to amaze me. If you are looking for something chic and equally sexy, Bardot is the place for you! They have a great range of women's wear for the sophisticated and fierce, with their lace dresses and leather jackets being top sellers.

Bardot Junior, as the name suggests, is for well, children. They have the cutest clothes for children of all ages, starting right from newborns. The first time I entered the store, I refused to leave, only because I couldn't get over how incredibly adorable everything was! Such stores will lead to the makings of a very chic and fashion forward generation of kids.

2. Kmart

Known as the Australian counterpart of Big Bazaar in India; this retail giant is a mini haven for the budget conscious. You can literally find pretty much everything in K-Mart, from home decor to swim wear to shoes to toys. What ever it is, they have it. I particularly love their home decor section as they have a wide variety of products at super low prices. Also, their collection of bags and shoes! You can't resist those.

3. Typo

A store for everything cool and quirky; Typo is one of those stores that convinces you to buy everything, even when you don't necessarily need them. Known for their DIY kits, quirky journals and stationery, home decor and everything else in between. A must visit for those looking for something different and memorable.

4. Kikki.K

A one stop shop for all those stationery lovers; Kikki.K is here to save the day! Covering all your stationery needs in uber style and minimal design, this place will leave you wanting more than just a pen. Being in one of these stores reminds me of the countless hours spent at stationery stores as a kid, except none of them were as cool as Kikki.K.

5. Dotti

Dotti was the first store I went to in Melbourne, and I kid you not, I picked up about 10 pieces and I loved them all. Dotti has a great collection of trendy women's wear at reasonable prices. I would say, the best time to go there is during sale.

6. Valley Girl

Another women's wear outlet famous for ribbed dresses and tops, cut-out shorts and ganjis. For relaxed and daily wear that is fashionable, Valley Girl is where it's at. Low prices, good quality and great range is what makes Valley Girl popular.

7. Rubi Shoes

My favourite shoe destination as it is affordable and very very trendy. Oh and also, their offers! They usually have crazy offers going on where you can buy shoes for as cheap as $10. Their shoes are of great quality that can suffer a great amount of wear and tear.

8. Kookai

For Kardashian-esque clothing under one roof. The brand is popular for its fitted dresses, midi skirts and neck plunging crop tops. Kookai's sales are exceptionally great because most of their items have upto 70% off, which means you can find a beautiful dress which would have originally been $100 for $35!

9. Colette

If you love bags, like I do, you can't miss shopping at Colette. Colette has an expansive range of handbags of different sizes and prices as well as other accessories. Want a casual tote or a wallet or maybe a backpack? Well, you can find it all at Colette.

10. Lovisa

Someone said 'A girl can never have too much jewelry'. I think that someone is every girl in the world. Lovisa satisfies all those jewelry cravings with a massive range at affordable prices. The best time to shop at Lovisa is during the sale. Trust me, it's a real steal!
